Marine Geology and Mineral Resources Research
Group Profile

  Our team focuses on the development needs of key disciplines in the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Guangzhou), aims at the international frontier, and concentrates on core scientific issues such as deep-sea geological basic theory, deep-sea mineral resource evolution and environmental coupling effects. We mainly carry out research on marine geological geophysical fields, submarine boundary layer fluid dynamics, deep-sea mineral resources (marine natural gas hydrates, oceanic minerals, etc.), and deep-sea exploration high technology, providing theoretical guidance and technical support for improving the understanding of submarine ore-forming processes and promoting the exploration and development of China's deep-sea mineral resources, and contributing to the innovation capability of the laboratory.

Research Directions
(1) Research on geological evolution process of the South China Sea and its adjacent  areas;
(2) Research on the distribution and evolution of submarine cold seeps and resource-environmental coupling effects;
(3) Research on the evolution and resource evaluation of deep-sea minerals;
(4) Research on seabed exploration/observation/monitoring technology.
