On May 19th, a delegation from Pakistan’s Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS) visited the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Guangzhou) (GML) in China. The visit, facilitated by an invitation from Professor Tang Danling of GML, aimed to explore future research collaboration in marine and environmental sciences.

The 3rd International Conference on Applications of Radiation Science and Technology (ICARST 2025) was held from April 7 to 11, 2025, at the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria. Professor Tang Danling and postdoctoral researcher Yang Xiaobo from South China Sea U-Team for Comprehensive Research on Ecological Environment and Rights via Remote Sensing of the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Guangzhou) attended the conference. They participated in key sessions including “Remote Sensing Monitoring of Radioactive Seawater” and “Irradiation-Generated High-Performance Plastics from Recycled Materials,” and engaged in the Chinese side event titled “Radiation Technology for a Better Home.”

From January 12 to 17, 2025, the 17th Deep-sea Biology Symposium(DSBS) jointly organized by Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory(Guangzhou)(hereinafter referred to as "GML") and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology(hereinafter referred to as "HKUST") was successfully held in HKUST. This is the first time that DSBS has been held in Asia since its establishment in 1977, marking an important milestone for the deep-sea biology community in Asia. Over 30 marine scientists from the world's top oceanographic institutes were invited to give keynote speeches and featured reports, with nearly 400 scholars from over 30 countries and regions attending.

From April to August 2024, Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Guangzhou) held three international webinars for young scholars.

Dr. Siyuan Cang, the first author of the paper "Covert Underwater Acoustic Channel Sensing Technique using Marine Mammal Whistles" recently won the "Excellent Paper Award" at the 2024 IEEE/OES China Ocean Acoustics Conference. Professor Huayong Yang served as the corresponding author. Harbin Engineering University hosted the academic conference, where more than 400 academicians, experts, and scholars from 10 countries delved into discussions and exchanges on scientific research progress and the latest research results related to Marine acoustics. This conference accepted a total of 246 papers, with 10 papers, including this paper, winning the Excellent paper award.

At the Green Coatings Sub-forum of the 10th International Forum on Clean Energy and the Olhão BlueTech Ocean Forum, Prof. Qian Peiyuan delivered a keynote speech titled "Sustainable Marine Technology: Challenges and Opportunities", in which he deeply explored the research progress, future development directions, and application potential in global green shipping of non-toxic anti-biofouling technology. This speech has attracted extensive attention from the participating experts and scholars, especially in terms of how to promote the green transformation of the shipping industry through technological innovation. Prof. Qian provided profound insights and detailed solutions.

On September 10th, the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Guangzhou) (GML) successfully hosted a brainstorm meeting on Methane Seep Ecosystems.
