With the mission of “Rooted in the Greater Bay Area, Delving into the South China Sea, and Venturing into the Deep Ocean”, the Guangzhou Marine Laboratory focuses on tackling key scientific challenges in “Marine Security and Resource Development”. Its goal is to facilitate the high-quality development of the marine economy within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The Laboratory strives to integrate innovative resources both domestically and internationally, cultivate world-class talent in related fields, and undertake major national and regional technological tasks while fostering collaborative research. The Laboratory endeavors to achieve groundbreaking scientific advancements and realize high-caliber, substantive construction and operations. It aims to build a national strategic technological pillar dedicated to the South China Sea and establish a world-leading marine science and engineering R&D base with Chinese characteristics.
