Danling TANG

1. Biography
Dr. Danling Tang is a distinguished professor with extensive expertise in marine ecological research. She earned her Ph.D. from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, conducted postdoctoral studies at the University of Rhode Island, and worked as a research fellow at Tohoku University, Japan. She has held prominent academic positions, including Overseas Distinguished Professor at Fudan University and senior researcher at the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). She was also recognized as an expert under the prestigious "Hundred Talents Program" of CAS.
Dr. Tang specializes in marine ecological environment remote sensing and biological oceanography. Her research focuses on phytoplankton bloom dynamics under oceanographic forcing, global environmental changes, typhoon ecological effects, and marine disaster risk management. She has been a pioneer in promoting “Marine Ecological Environment Remote Sensing” as a new interdisciplinary field.
Dr. Tang has led numerous oceanographic research cruises in the South China Sea, authored over 200 SCI/EI-indexed papers, and is ranked among the top 1% of highly cited researchers globally in Environmental Ecology, as identified by ESI. She holds more than ten patents, has published five monographs in both Chinese and English, co-authored sixteen English academic books, and served as editor-in-chief for a special issue of an SCI-indexed journal.
Dr. Tang’s contributions to marine ecological environment remote sensing have earned her international recognition. She has served as the chair and/or core member of several major international academic organizations such as PORSEC and PACON, and has been appointed as an expert for several key United Nations projects. Her achievements have been acknowledged with numerous prestigious awards, including the Ocean Service Award, the Zayed International Prize for the Environment, the National Innovation and Excellence Award (Silver Medal), and two First Prizes in Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Awards. Her scientific contributions have been featured in the international journal Advances in Space Research.
