At the Green Coatings Sub-forum of the 10th International Forum on Clean Energy and the Olhão BlueTech Ocean Forum, Prof. Qian Peiyuan delivered a keynote speech titled "Sustainable Marine Technology: Challenges and Opportunities", in which he deeply explored the research progress, future development directions, and application potential in global green shipping of non-toxic anti-biofouling technology. This speech has attracted extensive attention from the participating experts and scholars, especially in terms of how to promote the green transformation of the shipping industry through technological innovation. Prof. Qian provided profound insights and detailed solutions.

On September 10th, the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Guangzhou) (GML) successfully hosted a brainstorm meeting on Methane Seep Ecosystems.

Spanning from March 28 to 30, 2024, “The 7th International Symposium on the South China Sea and Indian Ocean --- Ecological Environment (IOSCS 2024)” took place in vibrant Nansha, Guangzhou, China. Organized by the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Guangzhou) (GML), the symposium attracted nearly 50 leading experts and scholars from France, the United States, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Hong Kong, and other countries and regions. Participants delivered 20 insightful oral presentations and showcased 8 informative poster presentations, promoting international academic exchanges and cooperation.

Xia Shaohong research team of Guangzhou Marine Laboratory carried out the research on P-wave velocity structure by using the active source OBS wide-angle seismic data, which provided important information for in-depth understanding of magmatism and crustal extension in the continental margin of the northern South China Sea. Relevant research results were recently published in Tectonophysics.

On April 14, Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of southern marine science and Engineering (Guangzhou) organized and held the expert demonstration meeting of scientific research projects in 2019 in Guangzhou.
